Case Study : Citizen Kane

Part 1: Citizen Kane was directed by Orson Welles and was released 24th January 1942

Brief synopsis: Citizen Kane is a mystery drama about a man named Charles foster Kane, and his life story from what people he had met though out most of his life. The story revolves around one simple line rosebud, which was his last words on his death bed. This causes a newspaper to ask his 'friends',Jedediah Leland Mr. Bernstein and his second wife Susan Alexander Kane and people he work with what they remember about Kane and this mysterious rosebud. Through out the film we learn new this about him and the kind of man he is. This movie also shows how money and power changed who he was from an innocent child to a newspaper owner, the enquira, and his mile stones, marriage divorced and death of ex wife and child for his 'love nest' with Susan Kane  The movie the hose on to how his government carrier was destroyed and how he was controlling and a sad lonely rich man who over time became a bitter fat-cat like the people he was trying to protect the working man from there lies. It shows how the money went to his head and changed him. by the end of the film the reporter never finds out what rosebud means however at the end of the movie we find out though seeing his sled called rosebud which we learn relates to his childhood the last time he was happy and the first time he lost something.
